Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, very cold, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup cold heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix pumpkin puree, cream, and egg until combined.
  5. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients; mix until just combined to form a shaggy dough.
  6. Turn dough onto a floured surface; gently knead and shape into an 8-inch round disk about 1-inch thick.
  7. Cut the disk into 8 wedges and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown; cool on a wire rack before glazing.
  9. For the Vanilla Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth; drizzle over cooled scones.
  10. For the Cinnamon Drizzle: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and cinnamon; drizzle over the vanilla glaze.
